So torn on "The Signal." Loved the first 20 minutes -- it's so good you wonder why more horror directors can't squeeze out this many scares so easily. But while we initially care about the characters, that changes as the movie trudges on. The middle section is a hoot, but it stalls the tension that had been building so expertly up until then. And the final scenes are just painful -- overacted and underwritten. Still, these young directors have talent.
