So over the last month and change I signed books at Emerald City Comicon (thanks for the table space, PDX Browncoats!) and the Stumptown Comics Fest. After the jump: some of the sketches folks asked me to draw, in person and via Twitter. Click on any image to enlarge.
Above: A sketch request from @dagraffman: "The Sabertooth Vampire meets Batman."
Request from @thethomaswilson: "Sabertooth Vampire stuck to the top of the Space Needle." (This is what happens when I try to draw the Space Needle from memory.)
Request from @stevethefirst: "Sabertooth Vampire encountering some Emerald City Comicon booth babes."
I stood in line for the train to Emerald City with a guy wearing a sweatshirt and no shirt underneath who was carrying a mini-cooler; he told me over and over (between unnerving staccato laughs) about how he travels from city to city, stealing. Rail staff were keeping an eye on him and laying bets that he wouldn't make it to Olympia. (Pretty sure he didn't.) @erik_henriksen asked me to draw him stealing the train. I can only imagine the passengers woke up in Vegas, each missing a single kidney.
Request by @splunge2000 : The Sabertooth Vampire in one of those Portland Timbers fan ads.
Request by @Mi_chiamo_Rene: "Sabertooth Vampire as Phantom of the Opera.”
Request by @auroracita: "A bunny riding a tiger over a field of fire."
Request by @Galumbits: "The Sabertooth Vampire wearing a Jayne hat!” (Bonus appearance by Augie, The Littlest Reaver)
@Bobbie_Girl asked me to draw in her amazing pug-themed sketchbook -- which featured drawings of that silly canine breed by an intimidating lineup of cartoonists. So. This.
The Sabertooth Unicorn. I suspect we haven't seen the last of this fellow.
A Jayne-statue head for @Jayne_Statue.
Request by @chubbyjogger : "Zombie Yoda."
I was asked to "do something ridiculous with Batman." And so.
A licensed massage therapist asked me to draw the Sabertooth Vampire getting some work done.
Request by @FlikMage: "Draw the Sabertooth Vampire as the best turtle."
I was asked to draw the Sabertooth Vampire with Han Solo. I extrapolated, slightly.
The Sabertooth Vampire meets one of my college comic-strip characters.
Request: "a rat" for a themed sketchbook. I drew two.
Drawings for two sketchbooks -- one of Gotham's heroes, one of Gotham's villains.
Request: "Cort stabbing Fatboy." (I get this one more than you'd think.)
Request: "The Sabertooth Vampire playing a trombone."
Request: "A velociraptor being clever." I do not know how to draw velociraptors
Request: "A koala."
Request: "Draw my kitten Archer with your cat Hellboy."
Request from @mandyjwatson of Brainwavez.org: "The Sabertooth Vampire, with a saber, killing a zombie."
I drew Wolverine for @matt_grigsby's X-Men-themed sketchbook.
Request: "Something from Miyazaki." I drew the thing that terrifies me most.
Request: The Sabertooth Vampire as Conan. Behold his fearsome lats
Request: "The Sabertooth Vampire and something involving a toothbrush."
Request from @LuBellWoo of LucyBellwood.com: "The Sabertooth Vampire on a tall ship."
And finally, and perhaps appropriately, this request from @Redjakk : "The Sabertooth Vampire drunk."
Thanks so much, once again, for the sketch. I treasure it. I had a fantastic time in Portland and I will definitely be back, so I think I should contemplate a new sketch. (I feel as though it should be a "thing" I do every time I visit - that and visit Big-Ass Sandwiches!)
