Oregon Children’s Theatre just staged a musical adaptation of Kelly DiPucchio and Scott C.’s children’s book “Zombie in Love.” OCT asked me, Lucy Bellwood and Graham Annable to join Scott C. at the March 8 performance and live-sketch the show. My hasty drawings after the jump. ( Here are Lucy's, BTW, plus some photos from the evening.)
1. One of the worm puppets that sort of act as the "Zombie in Love" Greek chorus
2. Our protagonist, the undead teen Mortimer
3. I was pretty impressed with Blake Peebles’ every-changing portfolio of zombie poses as Mortimer
4. An intestines-flaunting Mortimer gets some dating advice from popular school chum Rodney (Javon Carter)
5. This dating advice is perhaps poorly implemented
6. Mortimer and fellow zombie student Mildred (Madison Wray) meet cute on opposite sides of a janitor's closet
7. Mortimer lurks at the punch bowl at the school dance
8. Super Teen Zombie Dance Party
9. Scott C. meets the scary-talented Peebles and Wray
You can find Lucy's sketches from the night right here, and here are some photos from the evening by OCT's Pat Moran. Also, here are posts about the evening from OCT and The Portland Mercury. As Lucy writes in her post, it's a really fun show, and watching kids mob Scott C. was a blast. Thanks for having us, OCT!
Wow! You updated! You're still alive! And it appears the Portland Film Festival has some choice offerings. Good to "see" you again.
